Mixing educational, plush, outdoor and RC toys in one container lowers freight per unit. Here is how to plan quantities, cartons and lead times.
Buyers who order across several toy categories often consolidate into one container to reduce freight per unit. The saving is real, but it only holds if the quantities, carton marking and lead times are planned together rather than category by category.
Start from the carton, not the unit
Container planning works in cartons. Ask each category for the carton quantity and carton dimensions before you finalise quantities, because a plush item packed 48 sets per carton fills space very differently from an outdoor set packed 12 per carton. Build the loading plan from carton counts and total volume.
Align the lead times
Plush and RC production runs are usually longer than moulded outdoor items because of fabric cutting and electronics assembly. If you need one shipment date, place the longest-lead category first and let the shorter-lead categories fill in behind it. Confirm the lead time per category at the minimum quantity, not just at the full order quantity.
Standardise the carton marking

Plan the inspection points
Decide before production whether you want third-party inspection, and at which stage. For a mixed container, inspecting each category as it completes is usually simpler than waiting for everything to finish, because finished goods can be packed and staged while the remaining categories are still in production.
